Donnarumma backed after blunder as Galtier rules out PSG keeper rotation

Gianluigi Donnarumma remains the clear first-choice goalkeeper at Paris Saint-Germain, coach Christophe Galtier indicated on Friday as he defended the error-prone Italian.

On the eve of a Ligue 1 clash with Brest, Galtier was asked whether he might consider rotating his keepers and give veteran Keylor Navas a fresh chance to stake a claim.

Donnarumma was exposed in PSG s Champions League game against Juventus on Tuesday, when Galtier said it was forgetfulness that led to the visitors pulling back to 2-1 early in the second half.

From a short corner routine on the left, Filip Kostic crossed into the heart of the penalty area and Donnarumma came for the ball but failed to get close, allowing Weston McKennie the chance to head into a near-unguarded net.

Barcelona to move for Joao Felix?

Barcelona are aware that signing their primary attacking target for this summer Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland will be difficult considering the competition for his signature, and according to Goal.com (via ), they re prepared to move on to Atletico Madrid s Joao Felix as their first alternative.

Not that signing Felix is likely to be easy the Portuguese forward is Atletico s record signing, having arrived from Benfica in the summer of 2019 for more than €120 million. However, the fact remains that the 22-year-old, though still obviously young, hasn t had the impact such a huge fee warranted under Diego Simeone. Many believe that Simeone s notoriously defensive style is actually preventing Felix from developing and unleashing his full potential. Therefore, Barcelona ar…

Neil Harris has stepped down as Millwall manager after a four-and-a-half-year spell in charge at The Den.

The 42-year-old former striker was appointed in April 2015 and oversaw the club s promotion to the Championship in 2017.

Liverpool will ´go again´: Klopp plans to change how he gets message through to misfiring Reds

Jurgen Klopp insists Liverpool will go again and believes it is on him to change the way he communicates with his players to get the Reds firing again.

Liverpool suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Burnley on Thursday, bringing an end to an astonishing run of 68 home games without a loss in the Premier League dating back to April 2017.

During that impressive run, Liverpool scored 168 goals, but the defending champions have now failed to score in four successive league matches and have slipped six points off leaders and fierce rivals Manchester United, who they face in the FA Cup fourth round this weekend.

Klopp accepted full responsibility for the Burnley setback and said the onus is on him to give his players the platform to get back to the lofty standards that saw t…

Chelsea 4 Arsenal 1: Hazard strikes twice as Sarri celebrates

Eden Hazard s brace helped Maurizio Sarri claim his first major trophy as Chelsea crushed Arsenal 4-1 in the Europa League final in Baku on Wednesday.

In perhaps his final appearance before a mooted move to Real Madrid, star man Hazard struck two second half goals to confirm Chelsea s second triumph in six seasons in this competition.

Olivier Giroud sparked the landslide against his former employers in the 49th minute before Pedro put a second past retiring Gunners goalkeeper Petr Cech.

Alex Iwobi pulled one back in between Hazard s double but Arsenal faded horribly after half-time and, having finished fifth in the Premier League, are now consigned to another season outside the Champions League.

Mbappe: Neymar is Paris Saint-Germain´s superstar

Kylian Mbappe has dismissed suggestions that he has overtaken Neymar as Paris Saint-Germain s star man, after the teenager s double secured a 3-1 win at Guingamp.

PSG boss Thomas Tuchel introduced Mbappe at half-time in Brittany, with Nolan Roux s goal having put Guingamp ahead.

The change immediately paid dividends Mbappe combining with Neymar who drew a foul from Jordan Ikoko, and the Brazil forward duly levelled from the spot.

And Mbappe would have the final say with two exceptional finishes late on to secure the win, but the World Cup winner insists he is still playing second fiddle to Neymar.

Neymar is a superstar, much more of star than me, he said in his post-match interview on the pitch.

I am not at that level yet. He has worked many yea…

Vlahovic returns: Juventus´ latest star faces hostile Fiorentina reception

What do Dusan Vlahovic, Dodi Lukebakio and Gaetan Laborde all have in common?

As of this moment, not much – aside from having been touted as the next Newcastle United signing. But if Vlahovic gets a goal for Juventus against Fiorentina on Wednesday, he will join Wolfsburg s Lukebakio (who joined on loan from Hertha Berlin) and Rennes Laborde (who signed from Montpellier) as the only players in Europe s top five leagues to score for and against the same team this season.

Vlahovic said his feelings were a bit mixed as he contemplated facing the Viola at the Artemio Franchi, where he spent four years after joining as an 18-year-old from Partizan. It s a bit strange, he told DAZN, to prepare for a game against the team for whom he scored 33 times in Serie A in 2021, equ…

Filipe Luis has joined Flamengo after leaving Atletico Madrid at the end of his contract.

The left-back was part of the Atletico team that won the 2013-2014 LaLiga title, as well as the Europa League twice during two stints in the Spanish capital.

And Brazil defender Filipe Luis is now heading back to his homeland after agreeing a deal to the end of 2021.

Feeling that goes from father to son, from grandfather to grandchild. The heart beats, the defender wrote on Twitter.

Filipe Luis previously played in the Premier League for Chelsea.

Arsenal through to last 16 as Manchester United squander lead again

Arsenal secured their place in the last-16 of the Champions League with a scintillating 6-0 thrashing of Lens on a night where Manchester United’s participation in the competition hangs by a thread.

United were left to rue their inability to close out a match in Europe once again after they let slip a two-goal lead twice to draw 3-3 at Galatasaray.

Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes scored inside 18 minutes before Andre Onana made the first of two errors to allow Hakim Ziyech to reduce the deficit.

Palmeiras have announced the signing of midfielder Felipe Melo from Inter.

The 33-year-old, who has made only five Serie A appearances this season, has signed a three-year contract with the Brasileirao champions.

News of the former Juventus and Galatasaray midfielder s impending arrival prompted huge excitement among Palmeiras fans on social media and he admitted that such a reception was a real plus.

I ve been really amazed by the warmth of the crowd. It makes all the difference, Melo, a champion in Brazil with Cruzeiro in 2003, told Palmeiras  official website.
